The Go-Now “glass” rapier is a training rapier for historical HEMA fencing with a blade made of fiberglass and additionally protected with a layer of plastic. The blade has similar properties to a steel blade, but always returns to its original straight shape after bending.
The pommel and crossguard are made of polished metal knobs.
The guard (basket) is made of durable 1mm thick sheet metal but it corrodes easily and requires care – drying from moisture and oiling if necessary.
The crossguard is made of a hardened rod protected by a layer of plastic.
The tip is made of flexible plastic.
The Go-Now “Glass” rapier has similar properties and mechanical characteristics to its steel counterpart, but due to its safe blade and rubber tip, it can be practiced with a fencing mask as the only protection.
However, it should be remembered that this is a relatively new product that has not been tested for many years and does not have any certificates. Therefore, when using it, common sense and caution should be exercised as with any other training weapon or even a toy.
